Another large-sized special from Zenescope Entertainment this week, featuring two interesting characters facing off against each other - Zodiac Vs Death Force.

Two of the Grimm Universe’s most dangerous antiheroes face each other for the first time ever in a life or death battle, neither knowing they are just pawns in a bigger game. But who is the puppet master pulling their strings behind the scenes?

Writer: Jay Sandlin
Artwork: Alessandro Uesu, Babisu Kourtis,
& Gabriel Rearte

Zenescope really gets the most out of these oversized issues. As I have said before, they allow for more storytelling, and again, in this case, it works well.

The combination of these two characters is interesting. They have their similarities and would work well together, but...

It starts off with Zodiac mopping up what he thinks is a drug operation, with the various underlings getting in his was. His non-deadly methods seem to be working and he is turning over a new leaf. Then he discovers that it is a people-smuggling operation, and that promise goes out the window.

The victim is a refugee from Wonderland and is chased by a minion of the Dark Princess (yes, she's pulling the strings again). This villain can control bugs, and people - dead or alive - and wants this girl for his own purposes.

The attack on Zodiac brings in Death Force and that evens the odds somewhat until Death Force himself is taken over. Here is now where we get to the 'but' above and the 'Vs' in the title.

The story takes us to Wonderland, and we get deeper into not only Death Force and his powers but an interesting part with Zodiac.

The girl, as well, has something hidden about her, which is fully revealed in the end. I like the twist, and the ending adds something different to the end. It may cause problems for all...

The artwork is excellent, and works out well - I like the way this is shown in all the different areas - the docks, the city and Wonderland.
