Advance Review: Clodagh #3
Coming soon from Blue Fox Comics
From Blue Fox Comics is Clodagh #3. It is coming soon to Kickstarter, and I was lucky enough to get an advance review.
As a witch decapitates, devours and destroys anyone who stands in her way, ex-warrior Clodagh must battle through a world of mercenaries and murderous hulks to reach and rescue her stolen family.
Written by Simon Birks, with art and colours by Willi Roberts, and letters by Rob Jones
Building well on the previous two issues, this issue carries the three-fold story of the Witch, the Father and Clodagh as they all look to meet in the middle.
In this issue, we get the result of the cliffhanging escape attempt, and there is some excellent storytelling and art here. the first pages reach out and grab you and the time split of panels is especially striking. The witch’s reaction to this escape is brutal and interesting, and I like how this aspect is told.
As we work our way through the story, we see Clodagh working her way through the woods with her religious companion. This works out well, and the moments to pray are taken well. There are some clever action scenes here, with a good finish to one part.
Then there is the father and the talking dog. This is interesting, as he doesn’t seem to have problems getting through. I like how it is noticed that it may be a trap but is well baited.
This is an excellent middle of the story, with some stunning art and sequential storytelling.
That final page is going to stick with me for a while…
